"The most important thing is the present condition of Iraq caused by the occupation of the U.S."

Kim Kwang-il, a member of Korean Action against Dispatch of Troops to Iraq, denounced the President Roh Moohyun's decision to prolong the troops' stay in Iraq by one year, in an interview with VOP.

He said "According to various reports, 1.2 million Iraqi people have been killed and a quarter of Iraqi children have suffered from malnutrition. This is the truth of the U.S. troops' operation."

Roh promised that there would be no more extension of the deployment last year with Korean people, saying "this is the 'last' extension". However he proposes the fourth extension of a year now.

Kim said "This is a fraud. Roh has confirmed several times that there would be no change of the administration's policy about the withdrawal of troops. However he breaks the promise with Korean people. When Bush requested another extension in last summit with Roh in Sydney, he accepted the unfair proposal."

Roh's proposal waits for being submitted to the National Assembly, suggesting a year extension of Korea’s troop deployment after cutting down the Zaytun Unit forces by a near half to 600.

"Lawmakers never have to accept that request. We will continue to give pressure to the lawmakers and presidential hopefuls in December's election to deny Roh's appeal" said Kim.
